Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has ordered sellers of live chickens, ducks, and other birds to secure a shipping permit from the concerned local government agencies.
He explained that this is a preemptive effort to avoid, if not eradicate, the spread of bird flu in the city.
The City Veterinary Office and Business Permit and Licensing Division personnel visited the sellers in Barangay Lourdes Northwest.
“They were told that once they couldn’t provide the necessary documents upon the succeeding inspections, the city government will confiscate all the birds,” the City Information Office (CIO) said.
