Mayor Lazatin to convene Angeles City LGBTQ+ Advisory Council

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. is set to convene the LGBTQ+ Advisory Council, to revisit, enhance, and strengthen the policies and programs designated for the sector’s general welfare and protection.

The mayor met with the LGBTQ+ Officer-in-Charge of Angeles City, Jhune Angeles, to discuss the initiative to call for an Advisory Council meeting.

Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and Public Employment and Services Office staff Irene Bianson were also present in the meeting held at the Mayor’s Office Conference Room on Thursday, July 18.

The City Information Office (CIO) said the mayor wanted to strictly reinforce the city’s LGBTQ Ordinance of 2019, especially in harmonizing all programs and initiatives for the sector and promoting their employment, education, livelihood, and health.

“We wanted to extend every assistance to them and recognize their importance in the city’s development, as well to promote them as individuals and members of the community,” Lazatin said.

It was under Lazatin’s administration that the LGBTQ+ Office was first created in Angeles City.

The LGBTQ+ Advisory Council comprises representatives from various local government offices, the president of the LGBTQ+ Association in Angeles City, and two accredited LGBTQ+ organizations. Vice Mayor Vicenta Vega-Cabigting is the co-chair of the Council.
