Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. is set to open the first fully solar-powered public school in the city on Thursday, March 6.
The solar panels have been installed at the Central Luzon, Belen Homesite Elementary School.
Lazatin said the use of renewable energy will pave the way for the prudent use of electricity allowing the city government to save P100 million in electricity expenses per year.
The Belen Homesite Elementary School will be the first solar-powered public school in the region, producing 32 kilowatts of power.
It has 54 solar power panels that support seven fully air-conditioned classrooms.
