Mayor Lazatin welcomes operation of Angeles City’s new garbage transfer station

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. welcomed the operation of the city’s newly established waste transfer station.

The facility, which started operation on Wednesday, February 12, seeks to streamline garbage collection and improve sanitation in Angeles.

“With this new system, a single garbage truck can collect waste up to four times in one barangay, preventing garbage accumulation and ensuring cleaner streets,” Lazatin said.

“This is just the beginning. As we roll out the system to more barangays, we are confident that Angeles City will set the standard for effective urban waste management,” he said.

Initially, all waste collected from major roads will be brought to the transfer station, with plans to gradually include barangay Capaya. Each week, one additional barangay will be permitted to use the facility until all 33 barangays in Angeles City are covered.

The transfer station is expected to enhance the cleanliness of Angeles City while promoting better waste segregation and disposal practices, one of Lazatin’s priority programs.

The city’s transfer station was inaugurated in December 2024.
