NIA-UPRIIS releases P11.5-M subsidy to 80 irrigators’ associations

SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ (PIA) — The National Irrigation Administration – Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) Division I has released over P11.5 million in operations and maintenance subsidies to 80 irrigators’ associations (IAs) under its service area for the 2026 dry cropping season.

The distribution took place at the Center for Hybrid Rice Research, Innovation, and Mechanization within the Central Luzon State University compound in Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

In a statement, NIA-UPRIIS said the incentive is awarded to IAs that effectively perform their duties in operating and maintaining irrigation systems under their jurisdiction, ensuring timely and reliable water delivery for the dry cropping season.

The agency added that the incentive strengthens the capacity of IAs to conduct regular maintenance, canal clearing, and water management activities essential to sustaining farm productivity in their service areas.

As they received the subsidies, IA leaders expressed gratitude for NIA’s continued support in operating and maintaining irrigation services.

NIA-UPRIIS Division I oversees irrigation services in parts of Nueva Ecija, including Lupao, San Jose City, Llanera, Science City of Muñoz, Talavera, Sto. Domingo, Quezon, and Licab.

Through the initiative, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to participatory irrigation management, with IAs serving as key partners in managing irrigation facilities and supporting farmers throughout the cropping season. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
