The NLEX Corporation, in light of the directive of the Department of Transportation, will provide a toll rebate for the San Fernando–Pulilan stretch, both northbound and southbound, effective September 2, 2026, at 12:00 noon, until all lanes in said stretch are passable to all classes of vehicles.
The toll rebate will be credited directly to the motorist’s RFID account the day after the toll passage.
“We understand the difficulties experienced by motorists affected by the flooding in San Simon and Tulaoc, which is part of a wider emergency across Pampanga arising from the continuous Habagat rains resulting in elevated water levels at the Pampanga River. The latest flooding was aggravated by the overflow of the Pampanga River, which affected the area’s ability to discharge excess water,” NLEX said in a statement.
This toll relief supplements the earlier toll-free passage provided to provincial buses since August 2026 as part of NLEX’s continuing efforts to support public transport and ease the burden on commuters.
According to NLEX, it has mobilized emergency, maintenance, traffic management, engineering, and customer service teams, along with pumping equipment and sandbags, to manage water accumulation, assist motorists, and manage traffic in the affected areas. Teams remain on the ground to monitor conditions and implement necessary interventions, it added.
NLEX said it has also partnered with the DOTr, DPWH, MMDA, NOLCOM, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Pampanga local and provincial governments, whose teams immediately provided assistance and support for the ongoing response efforts.
“NLEX continues to closely monitor the situation and work with its partners to assist motorists and help restore normal road conditions as soon as possible,” NLEX also said in the statement.
For non-RFID users, motorists are encouraged to have an RFID installed to facilitate seamless toll transactions and avail of the toll rebate.
The #DOTr, through the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), earlier directed NLEX to implement a faster and more efficient warning system, including direct SMS or text messages and other accessible platforms, for motorists during heavy rains and flooding.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed the DOTr and other national government agencies to implement immediate measures to resolve the heavy traffic congestion in NLEX due to the flooded portions in San Simon, Pampanga, particularly in Tulaoc Bridge.
Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said the timely advisories will help motorists along NLEX avoid flood-related traffic and identify alternative routes.
