Pampanga folks: ‘Look beyond OOTD’

Kapampangan leaders and netizens have stepped up to urge the public to look past what government leaders wear and focus instead on their actual track record of service.

While some netizens have drawn criticisms on Governor Lilia Pineda and son Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, local business leaders and folks did not mind whatever leaders put on during rounds of flooded areas.

Paul Laus, president of Laus Group of Companies, said that Pampanga’s leaders have been proven through years of hands-on crisis response.

“I believe we should look beyond what our public officials wear. What matters more to me is how they show up for the people—not just in appearance, but in service,” Laus said in his FB post.

His social media remarks drew hundreds of likes and other favorable reactions from a cross section of the society with no adverse comments.

In noting the “differences” (of opinion), Laus also emphatized with those “who are personally experiencing the floods and hardships brought by these calamities.”

He appealed for unity while also setting aside casting judgment and sowing hatred.

“We may disagree on many things, but I hope we don’t allow differences to divide us. In times of calamity, we need more compassion, understanding, and unity—not more judgment and hatred.

Laus also included City of San Fernando Mayor Vilma Caluag as among the leaders whom he noted for their dedication during difficult times which he said “is something I sincerely admire and respect.”
