Para sa ‘Lab-in-a-Box’ project! Mayor Caluag eyes collab between CCSFP and Ateneo’s IPO

San Fernando City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag has welcomed Ateneo de Manila University’s Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) officers for potential collaboration in the field of science with the City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP).

The City Information Office (CIO) said the AIPO presented on Tuesday, February 11, its “Lab-in-a-Box” project to Caluag, CCSFP Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements Dr. Melanie Briones, and college Academic Affairs Associate Cris Balingit. Business Development Officers Mariela Alcaparas and Bryan Erfe represented the AIPO.

The “Lab-in-a-Box” project, created during the COVID-19 pandemic, provides two basic kits – one for chemistry and one for physics – each includes sets of tools used in on-site laboratory work, the CIO said. The project gives the institutions an alternate, remote method for their students to have easily accessible and useful tools for hands-on learning about these scientific disciplines.

Caluag said the project would help students, particularly those enrolled in Chemistry and Physics courses or subjects in the CCSFP and other city secondary schools, better understand the concepts of these subjects.

She said learning and experiment sessions would not be affected even if in-person classes were suspended.
