San Fernando City gets tourism awards

The local government of San Fernando City, Pampanga, under the leadership of Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, has received several tourism awards.

During the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 3’s “Tres Awards” on Wednesday, February 26, the city got the “Kaagapay Award,” the highest recognition, and the Top Tourist Destination Award for the city-level category, along with five other awards.

San Fernando’s Giant Lantern Festival also won the Most Outstanding Festival; CSFP Tourism Week as the Most Outstanding Tourism Month Celebration.

The city’s other awards were:
First runner-up, Most Outstanding Community-Based Tourism Program—Child-Safe Tourism
First Runner-up, Mabuhay Award: Tour Guide—James Allen Santiago, CTIP personnel, one of CSFP’s DOT-accredited tour guides; and
Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Advocate.

San Fernando-based Explore Beyond and Travel and Tours was named as a gender-sensitive travel and tour agency.

Caluag expressed gratitude to the DOT for recognizing the work of San Fernando in sustaining and developing tourism and commended it for staging such an event that honors the local government’s crucial role in shaping the tourism industry in Central Luzon.
