San Fernando City losing bet Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab files poll protest

San Fernando City, Pampanga mayoral candidate Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab filed on Thursday, May 22, an election protest before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) after she lost in the May 12 polls.

This is the first election protest filed before the poll body.

Cayabyab, through her lawyer, alleged that the last elections were marred with irregulaties and called for a manual recount in more than 200 precincts in San Fernando City.

Atty. Josep Miranda, Cayabyab’s legal counsel, said it was “highly improbable” that his client failed to win in a single precinct in the city.

In the recent exercise, Cayabyab received 49,061 votes while the proclaimed winner, incumbent Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, secured 127,124 votes.
