The local government of San Fernando City, Pampanga, under the leadership of Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, has welcomed the enrollment in the college of a member of Ayta Mag-antsi tribe.
Mayrin Lopez officially enrolled at the City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP) as “Aslag ning Balen,” the City Information Office (CIO) said.
She is the first Aeta to study in CCSFP, it said.
“Ito ay patunay sa implementasyon ng inclusive at open-door education system ni Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag at ng kabuuan ng CCSFP administration, sa pamumuno ni President Atty. Gloria Victoria-Bañas, kung saan ang lahat ng Fernandinos, magbebenepisyo sa mga programang pang-edukasyon ng pamahalaan,” the CIO said.
Lopez, a resident of Barangay Del Rosario, will take up the Accounting Information System.
CIO said the good news about Lopez coincided with the celebration of the National Indigenous Peoples Day on Friday, August 9.
