Wala umanong permit! Mayor Lazatin orders tobacco hub in Angeles City barangay to cease operation

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has ordered the closure of a tobacco facility allegedly illegally operating in Barangay Margot.

The City Information Office (CIO) said Margot Barangay Captain Dominador Lising Jr. reported the suspicious activity at the tobacco hub.

The Business Permit and Licensing Division found that the facility was operating without a business permit.

Lazatin, together with the other local officials and the Angeles City Police Office, personally visited the area to order the facility to stop operation.

The police are conducting a separate investigation into the matter.

“According to the reports, no finished products of cigarettes were found during the closure of the tobacco hub, raising some suspicions with its activities,” the CIO said.

“Upon interviewing the operator of the tobacco hub, the facility was only used to dry the tobacco before they transport it to their main manufacturing center,” it added.
